Classics with a twist
Celebrate the spirit of the Roaring Twenties and the Jazz Age.
The propulsive rhythms and sensuous harmonies of American jazz inspired the two works at the heart of this concert. The sultry tone of the saxophone launches Milhaud’s Creation of the World and Ravel’s spirited Piano Concerto is the perfect showcase for the versatility and flair of Scottish pianist Steven Osborne.
The polymath genius Leonard Bernstein drew inspiration from all styles of music for his celebratory Divertimento. Enjoy an off kilter waltz, mazurka, a samba, blues and even a Turkey-Trot!
