WASO | Special Event
WASO & WAYO Side-by-Side
Stroll through a gallery of sound with WASO and WAYO as two orchestras perform three works inspired by the visual arts. Mussorgsky’s intensely vivid music brings Viktor Hartmann’s paintings to life, while Debussy drew inspiration from masterful Japanese artist Hokusai’s ‘The Great Wave off Kanagawa’ for his colourful depiction of the sea.
Roger Smalley left a formidable legacy of music and learning in Western Australia and in what would have been his 80th year we perform Diptych, his powerful homage to renowned West Australian artist Brian Blanchflower.
