Schubert & Friends (Soirée Series)

Music on the Terrace Series

Held at Government House

Join us on a journey through the musical and social phenomenon of the 19th century Schubertiade.

For these recitals, Schubert would bring his brightest colleagues and latest compositions to wow the Viennese elite in their own homes, and we are recreating this in our own Government House Green Room.

In this exclusive event, music lovers will be treated to an intimate program built around two of Schubert’s most-loved works, The Erlking sung by James Clayton, and the second Violin Sonata performed by the astonishing Akiko Miyazawa. We then look outward to the music of Schubert’s idols and successors, with Australian composer Lachlan Skipworth providing insightful commentary on Schubert’s life and selected works by Beethoven, Mozart and Brahms.

Please note: Due to personal reasons, James Clayton will no longer be performing in this concert and has been replaced by Paul O'Neill.
