Enigmatic Elgar and Romantic Rachmaninov.
One of the greatest of all English orchestral works, Elgar’s captivating Enigma Variations is a touching and nostalgic musical portrait of friends and family. The exhilarating pianist Konstantin Shamray joins WASO and Asher Fisch to take on arguably the greatest of all piano concertos, Rachmaninov’s stormy and romantic Second. We open the concert with the shimmering atmospherics of Olivia Davies’ new work Stratus.
