Perth Symphonic Chorus: Handel’s Messiah

Perth Symphonic Chorus (formerly Collegium Symphonic Chorus) under the baton of Dr Margaret Pride OAM will present Handel’s Messiah on Saturday 17th December 2016 at 7.30pm. Soloists include Jennifer Barrington (soprano), Christopher Field (counter-tenor), Paul McMahon (tenor) and Christopher Richardson (bass), with the Perth Baroque Orchestra

Renowned for its moving, dramatic and memorised performances of this work, the Choir will again highlight the depths and celebrations of a libretto that delivers the Christmas message with joy and wonder. The sheer melodic inventiveness of Handel’s masterpiece allows the listener to indulge in an abundance of great, well-known arias and revel in the majesty and power of grand choruses unmatched by any other composer.

This year’s soloists will bring much to the performance: Jennifer Barrington’s vocal purity and engaging stage presence, Christopher Field’s exquisite textures and scintillating interpretations and Paul McMahon’s mellifluous and expressive tenor arias. The audience will welcome back the Handel’s Messiah Christmas Choir that will join Perth Symphonic Chorus in four of the large dramatic choruses.

Although intended for the Easter season, for English speaking countries Handel's Messiah is mostly performed at Christmas time and indeed for many music lovers the end of the year festivities are not complete without it.

Buffet Dinner

Light Meal Options
Grab & Go food will be available from the Corner Bar (Level 2) from 5.30pm. The options are priced between $8 - $14 and include Chimichurri Crusted Beef Rump, White Wine, Mushroom & Thyme Penne and a traditional Ceasar Salad.
