The joy of great string quartets
Haydn’s late string quartets represent an unmistakable and dazzling peak in his career as well as a benchmark for all future quartets. The E flat Serenade K375 was the earliest of Mozart’s three great wind serenades, music that was written for light entertainment at parties or even to accompany an imperial supper.
