Don’t miss this special one-off concert which will see the Darlington Quartet and pianist Graeme Gilling coming together to give the meaning of exceptional chamber music.
They will be performing Mozart’s String Quartet No 14, better known as the Spring Quartet. Fittingly effervescent, the Darlington Quartet, known for their joyful music-making, are sure to do it full justice.
Standing in contrast to Mozart’s buoyant work is Amy Beach’s Piano Quintet. Graeme Gilling will show his mettle in this highly demanding work. The Piano Quintet has an emotional intensity sure to pin audiences to their seats.
Meanwhile, Emma Jayakumar’s Bell Birds will provide audiences with the respite of the outdoors. The Darlington Quartet will present the third movement, titled Loiters knee deep in the grasses to listen.
Expect subtle, refined playing paired with boldness of interpretation, all in service of great works sure to touch the heart and mind.
