From Beethoven, Wagner and Strauss, we’ll journey from Fidelio’s Prison to Salome’s Palace, shining a spotlight on Barkmin’s phenomenal talent and showcasing the full force of your West Australian Symphony Orchestra in the hands of conductor Asher Fisch.

In August 2018 the acclaimed German soprano Gun-Brit Barkmin made her Australian debut in WASO’s Tristan und Isolde and blew everyone away. WASO took home two prestigious Helpmann Awards for Best Individual Classical Music Performance (Asher Fisch) and Best Symphony Orchestra Concert (WASO) earlier this month. From the roar of the audience it was clear that Perth wanted more of this exceptional artist. Barkmin is renowned worldwide as one of the finest exponents of Salome, so she concludes this gala event with the dramatic final scene of Strauss’ extraordinary opera.
