STATEMENT FROM MUSICA VIVA RE: Goldner Quartet and Piers Lane artist replacement

Thursday 26 August, 2021

"With much sorrow, we regret to announce that the Goldner String Quartet will not be able to perform on Sunday 3 October as scheduled, as they live in Sydney and are currently in lockdown, unable to meet to rehearse. Unfortunately, this also means the postponement of the world premiere of Jakub Jankowski's quartet, Kairos, commissioned by the Adelaide Commissioning Circle, to a future time.

We are pleased, however, to be able to bring you an alternative concert on the same date, supporting local Perth artists. Pianist Graeme Gilling is joined by the Darlington String Quartet to perform Mozart, Jayakumar and Amy Beach on Sunday 3 October, 6:30pm at Perth Concert Hall.

Our hearts are with the Goldner String Quartet and Piers at this time, for the cancellation of a tour that was intended to celebrate the Quartet's 25 years of extraordinary music-making, the lifelong artistic partnership between quartet and pianist, and their central place in Australian chamber music.

Thank you for your continued support in these unpredictable times.

Warm regards,
Musica Viva Australia"

STATEMENT FROM JOHN WILLIAMSON RE: John Williamson ‘My Australian Stories’ Rescheduled

Friday 13 August, 2021

“Once again, I’m devastated but not surprised anymore that my concert series ‘My Australian Stories’ in Melbourne, Sydney and Perth has to be rescheduled to early next year. The current situation with the Delta variant of COVID is making it impossible to travel with the ongoing restrictions on activities and border closures. Along with my musicians and crew, we’re all either locked down or locked out! I hate to let people down but we have no option. I hope you can join us all early next year and I’ll look forward to seeing you along the road of song then. In the meantime, stay safe.

Cheers
John”

STATEMENT FROM AUSTRALIAN CHAMBER ORCHESTRA RE: Music for Healing Cancelled

Wednesday 11 August, 2021

"Following the cancellation of our River tour last month, I remained hopeful that we would return to the concert hall before too long. However, due to the ongoing lockdown in Greater Sydney and the likely extension of state border restrictions, our Music for Healing tour is no longer able to go ahead.

Devastatingly, this concert was to mark our first performance in the Perth Concert Hall since this pandemic began. I am so sorry that we are not able to join you as we had hoped. After such a lengthy COVID-enforced absence from the concert hall last year, it is incredibly distressing to find ourselves in the same position in 2021.

We are working hard to bring you even more of our art online, with special live-streamed HomeCast performances, new ACO StudioCasts, playlists and more on our digital and social channels over the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can enjoy 30 days access for only $30 to all four on demand ACO StudioCast films by purchasing the ‘Intro Offer’ here.

If you are in a position to do so, I would like to ask that you consider donating the price of your ticket in support of the Orchestra. You can do so by following this link.

We appreciate your understanding during this challenging time and for bearing with us.

Best wishes."

- Richard Tognetti (ACO Artistic Director)
