Australia’s next generation of stars gear up for a special celebration

This July, we’re thrilled to be hosting a special musical gala celebrating the talented students, staff and alumni of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA)

WAAPA, part of Edith Cowan University, is recognised as one of the finest performing arts academies in Australia, lauded for its comprehensive training programs, world-class staff and high quality graduates. Many well-known musicians, actors, dancers and musical theatre stars attended WAAPA, including but not limited to Hugh Jackman, Tim Minchin, Frances O’Connor, Marcus Graham, William McInnes, Lisa McCune, Lucy Durack and Rachelle Durkin.

For the past few weeks, WAAPA music students from all different disciplines have been busy preparing for this exciting event, which will allow them to come together and showcase their astonishing talent and creativity. Music Director and Coordinator, Tim White OAM, has revealed what audiences can expect from the show.

“It is not often that Perth audiences can experience the full breadth of WAAPA’s music program in one concert. The WAAPA Music Gala will encompass all five streams of music: Classical, Contemporary, Jazz, Composition & Music Technology and Music Artists.

WAAPA’s acclaimed Music faculty will also be represented with recently honoured opera star Emma Matthews AM and saxophone legend Jamie Oehlers.”
