Tina Arena returns with her most honest album to date

In a music industry that is constantly evolving, certain artists stand out for their ability to transcend generations. Australian singer-songwriter Tina Arena is one such artist. To date, she has sold over 10 million records worldwide, making her one of Australia’s highest-selling musicians, and is the only Australian artist with gold or platinum album releases in every decade since the 70s.

Born to Sicilian immigrants in Melbourne in the 1960s, Tina made her start as a contestant on the Australian children’s variety program Young Talent Time at just eight years old, where she quickly won the hearts of the nation and became the longest-serving cast member in the show’s history.

As an adult, she went on to release numerous successful studio albums in both English and French – two of the four languages the multilingual artist sings, alongside Italian and Spanish. Her second studio album Don’t Ask (1995)made history when it won her both Album of the Year and Song of the Year (for the hit single “Chains”) at the 1995 ARIA Awards, a first for a female artist. It remains one of the highest-selling albums by an Australian female singer to date and was certified platinum a record of 10 times.

In 2015, Tina was rightfully inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame, a testament to her extraordinary career which now spans over 40 years.

Last month, Tina released her seventh English album, Love Saves, an honest and powerful declaration of love. Despite the success of her previous albums, Tina says Love Saves is the truest representation of herself. In an interview with Women In Pop, she said:

“I'm 55 years old, I've got nothing to hide. I've got nothing to be ashamed of and I'll just speak my mind. It’s just something that came out, I didn't even think about it. I made the record for me first and foremost for the first time in my life. I was like, I need to consider me actually, what I want, not what will be expected of me.”
