What's on this National Reconciliation Week

This week is National Reconciliation Week (NRW), an annual week-long event that promotes understanding, respect and dialogue between all Australians. NRW is an important time on our national calendar to reflect on our shared histories and explore the ways in which we can achieve reconciliation in Australia.

This year’s theme, Be a Voice for Generations, encourages Australians from all walks of life to use their power, words and actions to create a better Australia for everyone.

Singing workshop in Noongar language with Della Rae Morrison

Join award-winning actress and singer Della Rae Morrison, who has performed in various theatre productions, films and TV series including Bran Nue Dae, for a singing workshop in Noongar language.

Reconciliation Memoirs with Dr Richard Walley OAM

Tuesday 30 May, 6pm | Museum Boola Bardip
General admission: $25 (membership discounts and 'pay what you can afford' option available)

Hear one of Australia’s leading Aboriginal performers and writers, Dr Richard Walley OAM, present his Reconciliation Memoirs, written in collaboration with Victoria Laurie.

The Grey Line screening and Q&A session

Wednesday 31 May, 6pm | Wanneroo Library and Cultural Centre Theatrette
Free event (bookings are essential)

Hear the moving story of Helen Dwyer, who was forcibly removed from her parents and raised by a family in Perth, in a documentary by local filmmaker Scott Quayle. Scott and Helen will be available for questions following the screening.

Kids Storytime and face painting

Thursday 1 June, 11am | Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre
General admission: $10 

Bring your little ones along to Walyalup Aboriginal Cultural Centre for face painting and Noongar Storytime. This is a great way for families to reflect on our country’s history while learning about Aboriginal culture together.

Walk for Reconciliation

Friday 2 June, 10am - 3:20pm (multiple sessions) | Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park)
Free event (bookings are essential)

Journey through Kaarta Koomba (Kings Park) and engage in a range of cultural immersion opportunities including truth-telling, dancing, arts workshops and an opportunity to learn more about The Voice.
