PERTH FESTIVAL 2019 TAKES ON PERTH CONCERT HALL FOR THREE SHOWS!
Arvo Pärt & JS Bach | Wednesday 13 February
The famed Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir joins the Australian Chamber Orchestra in a celebration of Bach and Arvo Pärt. Ethereal and otherworldly, this is music by two towering composers searching for the very core of human meaning.
Jazzmeia Horn | Friday 1 March 7:30 pm
Grammy Award nominated vocalist extraordinaire Jazzmeia Horn has a name that speaks for itself. Drawing on her love for iconic singers of the 1950s and ’60s like Nina Simone and Sarah Vaughan, this young star has created a sound that is all her own, with her stunning vocals, inspired scat-singing and a vivacity that is infectious. This Festival concert features jazz and soul classics performed with a swinging beat and a taste of neo-soul by an artist regarded by many as the future of jazz.
The legendary collective founded by cellist Yo-Yo Ma performs for the first time in Perth. Hailed as one of the 21st Century’s great ensembles, the Grammy Award-winning Silkroad Ensemble are renowned for creating music that engages difference, sparking radical cultural collaboration and passion-driven learning to build a more hopeful world. This highlight of the Festival’s classical music program promises to be a transformative experience.
