5 ways to get creative in the new year

Here at Perth Concert Hall, we’re all about fostering creativity and finding ways to express yourself through art.

As 2021 comes to a close and everyone starts thinking about their plans for the new year, we decided to come up with a few suggestions to help you flex your creative muscles in 2022.

Expand your music library.

Attending local concerts and gigs is one of the best ways to discover new music (our events calendar is a great place to start!). Otherwise, there’s a whole world of music waiting to be found online – we recommend checking out your personalised ‘Discover Weekly’ and ‘Daily Mix’ playlists on Spotify

Break out the easel.

You don’t need to be an artist to paint or draw – sometimes it’s just about letting your imagination run wild. If you’re new to the visual arts or would rather get creative with some friends, why not go to one of the many paint and sip classes that have been popping up everywhere around Perth?

Put pen to paper.

Whether you’re creating your own fantasy world or spilling your innermost thoughts and feelings onto the page, writing is one of history’s most tried and true forms of self-expression. If you’re new to writing, try journaling, poetry, or short story writing.

Get your hands dirty.

There’s something really freeing about working with your hands and focusing your mind on a DIY project. When you’ve got some spare time in the new year, why not try doing some crafts, gardening, or baking?

Put your dancing shoes on.

Dancing is a fun way to break out of your shell and relieve some of the stresses of daily life. Grab a group of friends and go out dancing – or if that’s not your thing, try taking a dance class or just put on some music and dance around at home.

The whole team at Perth Concert Hall wishes you a safe and happy Christmas and New Year! Thank you for all your support this year and we hope to see you again in 2022.
