Music Library Assistant – Permanent Part time

The Organisation

WASO is the State’s busiest performing arts company. Each year our Orchestra entertains and inspires the people of Western Australia through its concert performances, regional tours, innovative education and community programs, and its artistic partnerships with West Australian Opera and West Australian Ballet. WASO also has a proud history of commissioning and performing new music by leading Australian and international composers.

Reporting to the Music Librarian in Orchestral Management, this is a rare administration opportunity to join a vibrant company that fosters inspiration and passion for classical music and the arts throughout our community.

The Role

WASO is looking for a musically literate Library Assistant with knowledge of the orchestral repertoire. Working with minimal supervision and to strict deadlines, this role requires a high level of aptitude when reading and interpreting scores, copying and transposing music and understanding bowing for string parts.  As a member of the Orchestral Management team, you will be working from Perth Concert Hall where you will assist with maintaining the library collection and resources.

 

Skills Required

To be considered for this role you will need to have proven experience reading and editing music scores, ideally within an orchestral environment.

You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • A high level of attention to detail ensuring accuracy;
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills;
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills; and
  • Knowledge of symphonic repertoire is preferred.
